Step back in time as you travel from London to Windsor in style - aboard the Mayflower - a traditional British steam train restored from a bygone era. Then relax in the town of Windsor with its quaint charming streets, beautiful river and only a short stroll from Eton – its College is one of the largest secondary schools in the country and amongst the most prestigious.

At Windsor Castle over 900 years of royal history are waiting for you. From William the Conqueror all the way through to Queen Elizabeth II. Our steam train journey is one-way, giving you the flexibility to spend as much time in Windsor as you like. You will find many wonderful attractions in Windsor & Eton. Guests can choose to purchase from the on-board range of drinks and snacks.



The Route

Starting out from London Victoria station we pass many of London famous landmarks. As we head towards the leafy suburbs, crossing the Thames at least once, we pass reservoirs and lakes to reach Windsor & Eton Riverside Station, designed by William Tite for the London & South Western Railway (LSWR) as a royal station.



Windsor

Crowned by Windsor Castle and linked by the River Thames, Windsor has a rich mix of history, culture, heritage and fun. Windsor is a town full of history and charm as you will discover when you visit. The town is dominated by Windsor Castle which is over 900 years old and the largest inhabited castle in the world! Aside from the Castle, there’s much more to see and do, including visiting the award-winning Savill Garden, taking a guided tour of the town's numerous cobbled streets and Tudor buildings, or enjoying a walk along the pretty riverside.



Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle is the ancestral home of the British monarchy and the largest occupied castle in the world.



Every morning, a must-see colourful display of typical British pomp and pageantry takes place here at the Changing the Guard ceremony. As you walk around the impressive grounds, it is almost hard to believe that successive kings and queens have been living here for over 900 years. Today, this beautiful castle is a favoured weekend residence of Her Majesty The Queen. Inside the State Apartments, you will have the chance to explore the same rooms used today by The Queen and members of the Royal Family. The rooms here were intended to rival the Palace of Versailles in France, and paintings by renowned artists such as Rembrandt and Rubens adorn the walls.



Inside St George's Chapel, you will visit the site of one of the most famous royal weddings of recent times. It was here where Prince Harry married Meghan Markle in 2018 in a ceremony watched by millions around the world.
